Childhood Lead Poisoning
has been identified as the #1 child health risk in the United States, reducing IQ and causing a host of other permanent, serious health effects. Adults also can suffer ill effects from exposure to lead resulting in a myriad of health issues, affecting their quality of life. Unlike other health issues, lead poisoning is entirely preventable.
Lead is toxic to many of your tissues and enzymes. Children are more susceptible to lead poisoning because lead can accumulate in their nervous system as they grow and develop. Death by lead poisoning is uncommon, but dangerous levels of lead in children may cause serious health problems, including lower intelligence and poor school performance.
Neighborhood Housing Services of Jamaica and Lead Connections are partnering up to pass on the knowledge and training that you, the contractors and homeowners need to identify Lead. And take the proper steps in having a healthy and safe household.
THE PROGRAM WILL PROVIDE:
Free Lead Safe Work Practice Training for Contractors and do-it-yourselfers
Free Risk Assessment by highly qualified specialist and Professionals
If Qualified, Free Grants up to 4,000 for Home Supplies and Materials for Lead Control.
